Laypeople have a vital part in our Church’s mission. Through the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and the Eucharist, we are all called by Christ to serve and uplift our parish and the broader Okanagan community.
Eucharistic Ministers at St. Pius X help distribute the Eucharist during Mass and extend blessings to those not receiving it. Our ministers also bring the Eucharist to the sick, elderly, or homebound members in the Okanagan area.
Sacristans are responsible for preparing everything needed for Mass, including vestments, sacred vessels, and church decorations, ensuring everything is in place for a beautiful liturgy.
Lectors proclaim the Word of God during Mass, reading scripture and leading the intentions. If you have a passion for scripture and public speaking, this role is perfect for you.
Ushers at St. Pius X welcome parishioners, assist with seating, and help manage the collection. This ministry is open to all members, including teenagers and families.
Greeters welcome parishioners as they arrive, while Gift Bearers present the offertory gifts during Mass. This ministry is an excellent way for families, especially with children, to participate in the Mass.
Young parishioners who have made their First Communion are invited to serve as Altar Servers, assisting the priest during Mass and becoming more involved in their faith.
Our Children’s Liturgy offers children an age-appropriate version of the Liturgy of the Word. Children leave Mass briefly to engage with the scripture before returning for the Eucharist.
The Music Ministry at St. Pius X adds a rich, spiritual dimension to our worship. Our choirs lead the congregation in sung prayer, helping to elevate our worship and glorify God.
If you have skills in technology, our Audio/Visual Ministry needs your talents to help manage the sound, video, and live streaming of our Masses.
This ministry involves caring for the sacred linens used during Mass, ensuring they are clean and ready for each service.
Our Church Decorating Team enhances the beauty of St. Pius X during the liturgical seasons, ensuring our church reflects the joy and solemnity of Advent, Christmas, Lent, and Easter.
The RCIA program at St. Pius X is designed for adults who wish to learn more about the Catholic faith and possibly join the Church. If you’re passionate about your faith and enjoy teaching, consider becoming an RCIA catechist or sponsor.
Our Faith Formation program supports families in their children’s religious education, particularly those not attending Catholic schools. Classes run from September through May and are led by dedicated catechists.
