PASTOR’S MESSAGE
The Feast of the Epiphany
The Wisemen who were led, mysteriously, to the stable in Bethlehem were seekers after truth. Who among us, in our parishes or families is willing to search for truth? People have all kinds of time for many trivial things.
The Wisemen are following something and they are totally true to it. When they came to Jesus, they recognized the great truth of life was in a newborn child. They honoured him.
Each parish must be the shining star to bring many people to Bethlehem.
People at Mass on this day who are lost in untruth must ask for a manifestation of Truth. Jesus is the way, the truth and the life for all who can rejoice to call themselves Christians.

Happy New Year! (From Fr. Obi)
I was not able to travel to Nigeria as planned for my vacation. However, I’m still going to take a few weeks off for vacation in Canada. I look forward to some time of rest and rejuvenation. During my time away, Fr’s. Harry, Wayne and Jim will take care of the Pastoral life of the parish.
Thank you for your kindness during this festive period. Thank you for your gifts, prayers, blessings and words of encouragement. They mean a lot to me, to our retired priests, and our staff.
We look forward to 2025 with great hope as we celebrate the Jubilee Year. May Jesus bless us all and our families.
Have a blessed New Year.
Celebrating Epiphany and the Baptism of Jesus
Epiphany
The magi gave to Jesus the best gift of their day and time: gold, frankincense and myrrh. What is the best gift of my life that I can offer to Jesus this year? The temptation sometimes is to offer Jesus what is left over: perhaps what is left of my time, talent and treasure. He deserves the best. Let’s give Him our best this year.
Baptism of Jesus
Celebrating the baptism of Jesus invites me to recall my own baptism: the day I started the journey of friendship with Jesus.
Do you remember the day when you gave your life to Jesus? I remember this man who shared with me: “I remember vividly in 1982, when Pope John Paul came to Nigeria. His holiness drew me in to the life of Jesus. That day - February 13, 1982, I gave my life to Jesus and I never looked back.”
The celebration of the baptism of Jesus is an opportunity to reaffirm my commitment to friendship with Jesus. Jesus, I belong to you in life and in death. With your grace, I will try each day to allow my baptism to display itself in my profession, in my encounter with people, the way I see others, the way I see the world, the way I love and live.
Your Brother,
Fr. Obi
